The Irish Food Safety Authority has issued a recall notice accompanied by a warning regarding the cold brew of an Irish coffee brand.
According to the alert, there have been a number of batches involved of Frank & Honest Cold Brews that were improperly packaged with an Oat Latte drink.
The product contains oats which is not mentioned on the label, and therefore poses a risk to some customers – especially celiacs.
“This can make the lots dangerous for consumers who are allergic or intolerant to gluten,” warns the FSAI.
The lots affected by this recall have an expiration date of May 3, 4 and 5, 2022 and are packs of 250 ml.
Those who purchased the product with the above dates and size may return cans for a full refund at their point of purchase.
This warning came with another caveat to those taking the Emergen-C Energy Release and Immunity Support dietary supplement.
The safety authority said a number of lots contain an unauthorized pesticide ethylene oxide.
The lot numbers are FUBO3 with the expiration date of January 24, NT489 10/23 and GU393 10/23.
A statement read: “Ethylene oxide is a pesticide whose use is not authorized in foods sold in the EU, but whose use is approved by other countries outside the EU. .
âWhile consuming the contaminated product does not pose an acute health risk, there is an increased risk if there is continued consumption of contaminated food over an extended period of time.
âTherefore, exposure to this substance should be minimized. Point of sale recall notices will be posted in stores supplied with affected lots. “
