This coffee machine concept will undoubtedly remind you of Perry the Platypus. Perry who? He is the fictional platypus from the animated series “Phineas and Ferb”. The younger generation can quickly identify the character, but don’t worry if you don’t recognize him. maybe after drinking a cup of coffee you will remember it.
The Platypus coffee machine is another quirky design kitchen appliance that can give you a great start to the day. Our life may not be perfect, but coffee can be, and the platypus will make it for you. The sleek style of the coffee maker starts with solid lines that set it apart from other coffee makers on the market.

The inspiration is not only the platypus but also the dolphins, as evidenced by the curves. Some will even say that he reminds them of penguins because of the same curves and the same muzzle, especially when you look at him from behind. The choice of sapphire (although it looks teal to me) as the color makes it another fun fixture that can make your kitchen counter or coffee nook cheery. It’s also a stylish addition made possible by the gloss and mirror finish. The Ferrari red accent and silver details add the perfect contrast.
The Platypus coffee machine is easy to maintain with the drip tray to store used grounds. It’s also easy to use, as you just need to adjust the heat. After use, there are fans which allow the floors to be dried quickly. There are three air vents on the back which help keep the machine cool when not in use.
The Platypus coffee machine design development process was realistic as the designer came up with an actual model by printing the body. Then the surface was painted layer by layer to achieve that glossy finish. And with the power of photography, the product model looked like a professional camera.
The main features of the coffee machine include the main body and the drip tray. The latter comes with an air vent, plus a top cap. The body is where the water reservoir is and where you’ll see the brew buttons, steam button, and a milk frother. The muzzle part is where the coffee is brewed, always ready to brew multiple cups of coffee for you.
The Platypus coffee machine seems ready to go into production. It is only a concept product from a Taiwanese design student. Hao-Xuan Lu focuses on design research and product design development. He aims to combine the insight of research with aesthetic characteristics in his work. He believes that exploring the unknown realms of products, services and interaction is essential for designers to achieve successful design.
