Mixed Banana Iced Coffee Recipe – Eat This Not That

As spring and summer approach, mixing up a nice ice cold drink will help you thaw out when the temperatures are high. Save the hot pot of coffee for another day and try a new type of caffeinated drink to get you through the day.

Blended iced coffee is nothing new – see Dunkin’, Starbucks and even Dutch Bros for example – but coffee with a dose of fruit is something special. Dole’s Blended Banana Iced Coffee tames the strong taste of coffee with ground cardamom, powdered sugar and vanilla. Everything goes very well with very ripe bananas, and a touch of milk chocolate makes this beverage a real treat!

Pro tip: If you’re a big fan of cream or milk in your coffee, add an extra small serving of unsweetened almond milk for a creamier consistency with no extra added sugar!

Ingredients

3 ripe DOLE® bananas, peeled and cut in thirds crosswise
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
4 cups Waialua Estate™ brewed coffee, chilled
2 tablespoons Waialua Estate™ Hawaiian Milk Chocolate Chips
3 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk

How to do it

  1. Puree the bananas, sugar, cardamom and vanilla extract in a blender; with the mixer running, slowly add the milk. Freeze banana mixture 1 hour or until almost solid. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.
  2. Divide coffee among 4 glasses (12 ounces); stir in banana mixture and sprinkle with chocolate. Serve with additional milk, if desired.
