A Leicestershire company that supplies and repairs coffee machines has taken up the challenge of raising mental health awareness with its latest product.
The team at Coffix Ltd, based in Markfield, have launched a new coffee machine, the Ceri Compact 2, under a new brand called Design Espresso.
They also announced a charity partnership with the charity Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project (LAMP).
The joint launch took place at the Caffé Culture Show in London.
Design Espresso directors Glenn James and Sean Callaghan said they wanted to use the Design Espresso brand to provide support and awareness for mental health within the industry.
They decided to do something about it after a staff member killed himself in 2020, and they even named the Ceri Compact 2 after the colleague.
Mr Johnson said: “We were all extremely saddened by Ceri’s passing but wanted to embark on a mission to continue her legacy and raise awareness of the growing problem of poor mental health in the coffee industry and among employers in general.
“So we developed the idea of a new bespoke coffee machine that bears his name.”
He said he hoped the charity partnership with LAMP would raise awareness of the importance of ensuring good mental health in the workplace.
The campaign has been aided by Embark CSR, Leicestershire’s corporate social responsibility agency, which was set up to support positive corporate behavior for social, economic and environmental good.
Stacey Wragg, Director of Embark CSR, said, “The feedback from visitors to the Design Espresso booth throughout the exhibition regarding the Ceri Compact 2 machine and the focus it brings to supporting mental health was exceptional.
“This is a fabulous initiative from Glenn and Sean, and we really look forward to working with them to develop the project in the future.” Matt Barton, Head of Corporate and Community Engagement at LAMP, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Design Espresso to improve the mental health of communities and raise awareness of the importance of wellbeing in the workplace.”
Design Espresso and LAMP want to strengthen their relationship by looking at other options to help people with poor mental health.
They want to provide opportunities to highlight the power of a conversation through a telephone advice and information centre, online wellness advice and a mobile ‘coffee and chat’ offer for businesses.
