More than a year after its popularity online, dalgona coffee is still popular on the internet. This cold whipped coffee drink is causing a stir on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok and was inspired by a South Korean honeycomb caramel of the same name. It’s soft, creamy and will make you forget to run for a latte.
The basic recipe includes only five ingredients – instant coffee, sugar, water, milk and ice – and is easy to prepare at home, alone or with your children. The beauty of this drink is that it is open to dozens of variations. Decaffeinated versions won’t keep you up all night.and coconut sugar work just as well as standard dairy and sweeteners. Lemon zest and mint can brighten up milk. You can even add an extra shot of alcohol and caffeine.
There are just a few things we wouldn’t recommend. Cocoa powder does not work well in instant coffee. If you put the dalgona foam on a hot drink, it will melt. And we do not recommend our colleague’s version garnished with bologna.
