Meme Propagation Test
Aug 2nd
This posting is a community experiment started by Minding the Planet to see how a meme represented by a blog posting spreads across blogspace, physical space and time. It will help to show how ideas travel across blogs in space and time and how blogs are connected. It may also help to show which blogs are most influential in the propagation of memes. The original posting for this experiment is located at: Minding the Planet; results and commentary will appear there in the future.
Please join the test by adding your blog (see instructions, below) and inviting your friends to participate – the more the better. The data from this test will be public and open; others may use it to visualize and study the connectedness of blogspace and the propagation of memes across blogs.
The GUID for this experiment is: as098398298250swg9e98929872525389t9987898tq98wteqtgaq62010920352598gawstw98qwrt189849813907azq4
(this GUID enables anyone to easily search Google for all results of this experiment). Anyone is free to analyze the data of this experiment. Please publicize your analysis of the data, and/or any comments by adding comments onto the original post at Minding the Planet; Note: it would be interesting to see a geographic map or a temporal animation, as well as a social network map of the propagation of this meme.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex coming in the US
Jul 21st
I might be late on this but apparently announcements have been made regarding the showing of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex in the US. It’s going to show on The Cartoon Network starting Saturday, Nov 6th @ 11:00 pm.
Alternatively, the DVDs are also coming out (DVD 1 is going on sale July 27th). I had hopes that the goodies found in the Japanese DVDs will be made available here as well but then again, I wasn’t holding my breath and rightfully so…

Who would bin Laden vote for?
Jul 21st
From Aaron Swartz:
Who would bin Laden vote for?:Since Bush fans (including the New York Times and CNN) have been repeating that Al-Qaeda loves Kerry, going so far as to print up bumper stickers, I thought now would be a good time to investigate who Al-Qaeda really likes. [continued...]
I was thinking about posting something similar to this but, as usual, Aaron wrote about it much better than I could. And also, don’t forget to play Osama bin Lotto!

Apple and the environment
Jul 19th
I have read somewhere (don’t remember where) that Apple had a pretty bad record when it came to computer recycling and general environment conservation. I found out today that Apple has a whole sub-site dedicated to environment issues: a new initiative to set the record straight or just PR stuff?
Drown in the Sea While Watching the Stars from the album Radio Blackout by T.Raumschmiere
More info on Innocence.
Jul 18th
Infogargoyle has more details on Innocence (see my previous post about it). The official (English) website has also been updated though it is rather Flash-heavy and not well configured (try downloading the Mac screensavers on OS X for example)…
Hopefully, the movie will play close to here.

I got new glasses today. I feel like a stranger in a strange land…
