New Blade Runner cut
Sep 4th
According to Scott, the new cut is what the movie should have been. I already own the Director’s cut, how different is it going to be? Will it be the last cut?
Upcoming movies
Apr 25th
There are a couple of movies that seem interesting coming up this summer (based on the list at Geeks of Doom). In no particular order, more of a reminder to myself:
- Day Watch
- Rise: Blood Hunter (not too sure about that one)
- Stardust
- Next (only here because it’s based on a Philip K. Dick’s novel: it looks like it’s going to suck REAL bad)
- 28 Weeks Later
- The Invisible
Frolix-8 tells us that there’s a bunch of PKD’s novels that could be turned into movies… Something to (not?) look forward to?
Speaking of movies, I saw 300 not long ago and it was amazing (albeit a little too violent with a bent on glorifying violence, but what else to expect from a movie dealing with Sparta’s stand against the Persian empire). Very graphically interesting! On a lighter note: a very funny 300 spoof!
Gunnm live action by James Cameron?!?
Jul 13th
Just learned about it (though the news seems to have been out since 2003) but apparently, Gunnm, a world renown manga, will be adapted as a live action movie by James Cameron! Also, if the movie is successful, it would end up as a trilogy (though each movie would stand on its own legs)… Apparently, Gally/Alita will be computer-generated since it would have been very difficult to reproduce Panzer Kunst battles in live action!
Can’t wait for 2009!
Keanu stars in A Scanner Darkly
Mar 31st
Via Boing Boing Blog:
Dave Gill points us to news that Keanu Reeves will star in the Hollywoodization of A Scanner Darkly, based on Philip K. Dick’s masterpiece SF novel about drugs and schizophrenia. As Dave says, “uh-oh.” … I suppose it’s no surprise that Keanu was chosen for the role. After all, The Matrix was the ultimate PKD rip-off.
I discovered just recently (an example of synchronicity?) that Charlie Kaufman wrote a script for A Scanner Darkly but is no longer on the project. I wonder who ended up doing the script…
