Artificial Intelligence is Expensive

The creation of artificial intelligence requires a high cost is the machines are very complicated and require expensive parts and highly trained manpower. After purchase, the cost of maintenance is also very high. The hardware and software of the machines need to be updated regularly in order to meet the latest requirements and needs in order to build a standard system.

Artificial Intelligence Leads to Unemployment

This has been one of the main socio-economic arguments made by the proponents against artificial intelligence. They say that this technology will eliminate jobs is the increasing amount of automating machines will lead to unemployment. It’s already common knowledge that machines do repeated and routine tasks better than humans and have already eliminated some jobs in construction. Is valid is this argument, it raises the question of whether we should not always seek to do things in a better way. If the machine can do things faster does not mean forward momentum? And what of the jobs being created by the artificial intelligence community and increased demand for these machines? It is a whole new industry with lots of potential jobs for humans.

Machines Can’t Think for Themselves

The misuse of technology could bring the world to an end. Powerful technology such as nuclear weapons, atomic bombs, long-range missile site, could lead to it being used to suppress people, harm them, and even start wars. Same goes for artificial intelligence. It has so much potential and so many applications and uses that one can only wonder what people with ulterior motives are capable of achieving with this technology.

Addiction to Technology

As humans, when we start to depend too much on technology, we become addicted and then we lose the ability and knowledge on how to perform basic survival tasks. Already, people do not know how to light a fire without a lighter or wash their clothes without a laundry machine. This just leads to continued dependence on technology for our way of life and it can be quite disastrous if we no longer have access to technology.

Technology will make us Stupid

Today’s generation, most of the people are depending on mobile applications like Siri, Cortana, Google Assistance or Amazon Alexa to do the thinking for them. If we don’t need our thinking abilities, these will be gradually decreased. For example during an argument or if someone is trying to make a point but forgets a detail, instead of tasking the brain to try to remember which is good brain and memory exercise, they just whip out their phones and google it or they ask the Alexa or Google Home device for the answer. It provides the answer immediately and thus instant gratification but it is inherently making the human race more and more stupid.
