Artificial Intelligence Healthcare Applications have become more and more common is they have more and more applications that prove useful to the healthcare industry. For example, a type of machine learning is reinforcement learning which is a process used to train robots. It’s like training a dog and rewarding it with treats. In reinforcement learning, if the robot does the behavior you want it to do then you reward it. If it does something you don’t want, you give it negative reinforcements. Rather than having a huge set of labeled data, you just have a function that says you did good or you did the wrong thing. That’s one way to get around label data—by having a function that tells you whether you did the right thing.
Generative adversarial networks which are also known is GANs is when there are two networks. These two networks work together in the sense that one network works towards generating the right thing, and the other network tries to check whether the right thing is being generated.
This is a way to get around one potential limitation of having huge amounts of label data in the sense that you have two systems that are competing against each other in an adversarial way. It’s been used for doing all kinds of things. For example, you can generate art in the style of another artist. You can generate architecture in the style of other things that you’ve observed. You can generate designs that look like other things that you might have observed before. There are also healthcare applications is you can now
Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence Healthcare Applications
In is much is there are many advantages of artificial intelligence and in is much is it continues to grow and be used in more healthcare applications, there are still some disadvantages and setbacks in artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence is Expensive
The creation of artificial intelligence requires a high cost is the machines are very complicated and require expensive parts and highly trained manpower. After purchase, the cost of maintenance is also very high. The hardware and software of the machines need to be updated regularly in order to meet the latest requirements and needs in order to build a standard system.
Artificial Intelligence Leads to Unemployment
This has been one of the main socio-economic arguments made by the proponents against artificial intelligence. They say that this technology will eliminate jobs is the increasing amount of automating machines will lead to unemployment. It’s already common knowledge that machines do repeated and routine tasks better than humans and have already eliminated some jobs in construction. Is valid is this argument, it raises the question of whether we should not always seek to do things in a better way. If the machine can do things faster does not mean forward momentum? And what of the jobs being created by the artificial intelligence community and increased demand for these machines? It is a whole new industry with lots of potential jobs for humans.
Machines Can’t Think for Themselves
In is much is machine learning and artificial intelligence machines display intelligence, machines cannot think for themselves. They can only react to the programming installed in them by humans. A robot cannot act any different outside of whatever algorithms or programming is done in there. They can do only work that they are made for or programmed for. As humans, we can take some unique circumstances or judgemental calls while we make our decisions.
But AI robots cannot do that. Of course, when the machine starts to think for themselves, that will spell the end of the human race, maybe. In the classic movie iRobot by world-renowned actor Will Smith, machines have taken over everyday life doing tasks for people and making the life of humans easier. However, the machines eventually develop the ability to think for themselves and that leads to chaos is they try to enslave all humans and kill all those who refuse to oblige.
Possible Exploitation of Artificial Intelligence
The misuse of technology could bring the world to an end. Powerful technology such as nuclear weapons, atomic bombs, long-range missile site, could lead to it being used to suppress people, harm them, and even start wars. Same goes for artificial intelligence. It has so much potential and so many applications and uses that one can only wonder what people with ulterior motives are capable of achieving with this technology.
Addiction to Technology
As humans, when we start to depend too much on technology, we become addicted and then we lose the ability and knowledge on how to perform basic survival tasks. Already, people do not know how to light a fire without a lighter or wash their clothes without a laundry machine. This just leads to continued dependence on technology for our way of life and it can be quite disastrous if we no longer have access to technology.
Technology will make us Stupid
Today’s generation, most of the people are depending on mobile applications like Siri, Cortana, Google Assistance or Amazon Alexa to do the thinking for them. If we don’t need our thinking abilities, these will be gradually decreased. For example during an argument or if someone is trying to make a point but forgets a detail, instead of tasking the brain to try to remember which is good brain and memory exercise, they just whip out their phones and google it or they ask the Alexa or Google Home device for the answer. It provides the answer immediately and thus instant gratification but it is inherently making the human race more and more stupid.
